Boob Toob Supplemental: Hooked on a feeling edition!

Fron deviantART member BloodySamoan

Star Wars trailer... Guardians of the Galaxy Style!

Here's a fan edited trailer for the original Star Wars using the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer music. Pretty neat, don't'cha think? I'm soooooo excited for both movies. I hope GotG is great and I hope Luke kicks some ass. Screw that Han Solo and his stupid broken leg!

The Legend of Korra: Book 3 trailer

The best animated series in recent memory is about to return for a 3rd season. CAN. NOT. WAIT!

Incredibox v3

Something different! This one isn't a video (but it can be ‘viewed’ on a computer so it still counts as a Boob Toob), more of an interactive audio experience (and some video if you can unlock the bonus content). Pretty funky, try it out! There’s a v1 and v2 as well with different tunes.

Big Hero 6 trailer

Fun trailer on an upcoming animated movie by Disney which is based on an old Marvel book. Not super old but this was when they were doing the Marvel Manga stuff. The concept may be different, I remember the book featuring 6 heroes. Or at least it seemed that way based on the covers. Maybe this is the Disneyfied version. I love that white blob dude.

Real life version of Kirito's Elucidator from Sword Art Online

Nice work by the guys at Man At Arms for not only creating an awesome real life replica of Kirito's blade from the anime Sword Art Online, but also for this cool ass 'making of' video. Check out their other videos white you're at it, I think I saw Link's sword in there.

Hentai Kamen

Sent in by Billy (a.k.a. Aqualec) although I'm not sure why, it's not like I'm into this weird crap. Nope, not at all...

Ikaruga review

Here's an old one for ya. Greg Kasavin at Gamespot gives a good video review for what is possibly the best shooter ever. Ikaruga was originally released on the Sega Dreamcast and eventually on the Nintendo Gamecube (I owned that one). I just saw it for sale on Steam which prompted me to look up some videos for it. I might have to get it again!

I’ll let the video below explain the game mechanics but for me, the main draw was that it didn't require you to simply avoid enemy fire. If you turn your ship white, you can absorb the white enemy fire and use it to power you up. Same deal with black enemy fire, just turn yourself black. So it’s a totally different play style than, say, Gradius (which I also adore). There’s a ton of depth to this game, most of which you’ll probably only realise once you’ve played it a few times.

The easy mode is challenging but doable. This game can be absolutely brutal though when going up the difficulty levels. You might get to a point where you can finish the levels in the higher difficulties but what’s your score like? Can you chain combos together (hitting 3 enemies of the same colour) or do you just barely make it out alive?

And even if you’re that damn good, are you good enough to handle two ships at once like this bad ass below? He’s getting a crazy amount of combos too. What a legend!

If you like shooters, I can't recommend Ikaruga highly enough.

Boob Toob Supplemental: All-Asian Edition

What’s happening Boobers and Toobers? It’s Dan, comin’ at’cha with an all-Asian edition of Boob Toob Supplemental! Apologies to our readers (all two of you) for not having done one of these for a while but the first entry below should explain things. Let’s get to it!

Psy, HyunA & 4Minute or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love K-Pop

It started off with this awesome little music video that some of you may have seen...

After doing those kickass dance move a couple dozen times (this is a lie, I don’t dance... ever), there was some talk regarding who the girl in the video was. After extensive research i.e. a quick Google search, we found out that the girl in question is none other than South Korean idol, singer, dancer, rapper, model, designer (you had me at hello) Kim Hyun-a (also known as HyunA). She actually has her own version of Gangnam Style and a bunch of other music videos such as the newly released Ice Cream (sort of like the Korean version of Milkshake by Kelis). Check out who makes a cameo...

Don’t let that fool you though, she’s not just a pretty face with one or two sexy dance moves. Case in point...

It didn’t take long before finding out that she’s part of South Korean girl group 4Minute which is made up of some very talented ladies. Apparently they're big around Asia. The video below gives a very brief intro on 4Minute.

More than a week of being mesmerised by them and hypnotically consuming HyunA/4Minute related media and I’m now slowly starting to get back to normal life. I am watching their very funny travel show though (Travel Maker) so that might make it into the show/blog at some point.

A grown man listening to some K-Pop... who’d have thought?

Dragon (Wu Xia) trailer

Apparently it came out in China (and possibly some other Asian countries) last year but it’s just now getting a US release.

Check out the blurb below.

Liu Jin-xi (Yen) is a village craftsman whose quiet life is irrevocably shattered by the arrival of two notorious gangsters in the local general store. When Liu single-handedly saves the shopkeeper’s life, he comes under investigation by detective Xu Bai-jiu (Kaneshiro). Convinced that Liu’s martial arts mastery belies a hidden history of training by one of the region’s vicious clans, Xu doggedly pursues the shy hero—and draws the attention of China’s criminal underworld in the process.

Martial arts noir starring Donnie Yen. AW YEAH! Takeshi Kaneshiro ain’t half bad neither.

Tangent: Anyone remember Takeshi from that Onimusha game which also had Jean Reno?

I just realised that it’s October 31 so I should’ve done an all-Halloween episode. Screw it! I’m too far into this already!

The Bladed Hand trailer

Looks like a neat documentary on Filipino martial arts. It says it came out in 2010 so I’ll have to track it down. I knew Matt Damon used it for the Bourne films but I don’t really know a lot of the history.

The Man with the Iron Fists

Here’s another movie that I’m dying to see. It is RZA’s directorial debut and it stars him along with Byron Mann, Cung Le, David Bautista, Jamie Chung, Lucy Liu, Rick Yune, Russell Crowe and a bunch of other people who will most likely get killed at some point in the movie. Check out the blurb:

Making his debut as a big-screen director and leading man, RZA—alongside a stellar international cast led by Russell Crowe and Lucy Liu—tells the epic story of warriors, assassins and a lone outsider hero in nineteenth-century China who must unite to destroy the clan traitor who would destroy them all.

Since his arrival in China’s Jungle Village, the town’s blacksmith (RZA) has been forced by radical tribal factions to create elaborate tools of destruction. When the clans’ brewing war boils over, the stranger channels an ancient energy to transform himself into a human weapon. As he fights alongside iconic heroes and against soulless villains, one man must harness this power to become savior of his adopted people.

Here’s the red band trailer (red band = unrated).

Here’s some fun time TV spots.

And check out this kickass music video for The Baddest Man Alive by The Black Keys & RZA.

I can’t wait! Until next time, keep kicking ass and taking names!

Boob Toob Supplemental

What’s up boobers and toobers! This is Dan, here with some things that I meant to discuss on the show but didn't end up doing so for one reason or another. I also find myself forgetting a lot of things as soon as Bobgar hits ‘record’ so I may use this space for things that I remember after we’re done recording.

For now, I’m calling it Boob Toob Supplemental mainly because I can’t think of anything better. Maybe Bob can change it if he has something better in mind. Or maybe YOU can suggest a better title.

Anyway, enough babbling from me. Here’s... umm... some more babbling from me! (I really should’ve thought that through.)

Disassembled

This is an animated short by Junaid Chundrigar and was apparently done in collaboration with Marvel. Other credits include Joris Hermy (music), Erik Griekspoor (sound design) and Thijs Viegers (Hulk explosion).

Minus the intro by Stan Lee, it’s only 2 mins long so it’s short and sweet. The animation style is funny and whacky and it shows various Marvel characters having a bad day. Venom eating the ice cream is my fave. The Snakes on the Plane bit was also nice. And Johnny Storm looks messed up!

I like it a lot and I feel like this would’ve been great as a bonus feature in the Avengers DVD/bluray.

Tangent: The Avengers movie was GREAT! Next time you see Bob, tell him to watch it so we can talk about it on the show :)

DyE - Fantasy

This is an animated music video and I don’t want to say too much about it because I don’t want to influence people one way or another. All I’ll say is that it shook me and left me wanting more. The description is below but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Mindblowing stuff, all the way to the end.

"Tigersushi and Excuse My French are pleased to present the new video for DyE's new single, Fantasy. Directed by animation wunderkind Jérémie Périn, the video tells the story of a group of highschool kids ready for teenage mischief. They break into the local swimming pool intending a session of innocent nightswimming, in an awkward climate of romance and apprehension. What happens next is for you to discover here. nsfw."

Baby Got Back sung by 295 movies

Some awesome individual spliced together clips from 295 movies to sing Sir Mix-a-Lot’s Baby Got Back. It has movies in it so that sort of counts ;) After seeing it, my thought was “I’m happy that this guy was born so he could do this.” Check it out!

Tom Cruise Running Montage

A bit of an addendum (think of it as homework) for episode 6 of The Boob Toob. I swear this guy has a clause in his contract saying that every movie he does has to have a running scene.
