Boob Toob Supplemental: Hooked on a feeling edition!

Fron deviantART member BloodySamoan

Star Wars trailer... Guardians of the Galaxy Style!

Here's a fan edited trailer for the original Star Wars using the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer music. Pretty neat, don't'cha think? I'm soooooo excited for both movies. I hope GotG is great and I hope Luke kicks some ass. Screw that Han Solo and his stupid broken leg!

The Legend of Korra: Book 3 trailer

The best animated series in recent memory is about to return for a 3rd season. CAN. NOT. WAIT!

Incredibox v3

Something different! This one isn't a video (but it can be ‘viewed’ on a computer so it still counts as a Boob Toob), more of an interactive audio experience (and some video if you can unlock the bonus content). Pretty funky, try it out! There’s a v1 and v2 as well with different tunes.

Big Hero 6 trailer

Fun trailer on an upcoming animated movie by Disney which is based on an old Marvel book. Not super old but this was when they were doing the Marvel Manga stuff. The concept may be different, I remember the book featuring 6 heroes. Or at least it seemed that way based on the covers. Maybe this is the Disneyfied version. I love that white blob dude.

Real life version of Kirito's Elucidator from Sword Art Online

Nice work by the guys at Man At Arms for not only creating an awesome real life replica of Kirito's blade from the anime Sword Art Online, but also for this cool ass 'making of' video. Check out their other videos white you're at it, I think I saw Link's sword in there.

Hentai Kamen

Sent in by Billy (a.k.a. Aqualec) although I'm not sure why, it's not like I'm into this weird crap. Nope, not at all...

Ikaruga review

Here's an old one for ya. Greg Kasavin at Gamespot gives a good video review for what is possibly the best shooter ever. Ikaruga was originally released on the Sega Dreamcast and eventually on the Nintendo Gamecube (I owned that one). I just saw it for sale on Steam which prompted me to look up some videos for it. I might have to get it again!

I’ll let the video below explain the game mechanics but for me, the main draw was that it didn't require you to simply avoid enemy fire. If you turn your ship white, you can absorb the white enemy fire and use it to power you up. Same deal with black enemy fire, just turn yourself black. So it’s a totally different play style than, say, Gradius (which I also adore). There’s a ton of depth to this game, most of which you’ll probably only realise once you’ve played it a few times.

The easy mode is challenging but doable. This game can be absolutely brutal though when going up the difficulty levels. You might get to a point where you can finish the levels in the higher difficulties but what’s your score like? Can you chain combos together (hitting 3 enemies of the same colour) or do you just barely make it out alive?

And even if you’re that damn good, are you good enough to handle two ships at once like this bad ass below? He’s getting a crazy amount of combos too. What a legend!

If you like shooters, I can't recommend Ikaruga highly enough.

Boob Toob Supplemental: There's actually some good stuff in here this time... I promise!

It's been a long time, I shouldn't have you... without a dope beat to step to... step to step to step to... Remember that song? No? Ahh it doesn't matter. What I wanted to say is I'm back so strap yourselves in cos you're going for a ride!

JohnnyExpress

Here's a good animated short film by South Korean studio Alfred Imageworks (check out their Vimeo page for some other videos). And by good, I mean Pixar level in terms of animation and also the humour and quirkiness although I admit there's a point in the animated short where things diverge from the usual Pixar fare.

It's about a space delivery man and one of the things that happens when he's out delivering a package. Sooooo funny and I kinda wish they'd do more of it, just him going to different planets and delivering stuff. Oh wait, they already made Futurama.

Anyway, this short film is 5 mins long so please do me a favour and watch it. Especially you, Bobgar!

Project 2501 - Homage to Ghost in the Shell

These guys are taking fan tributes to the next level! As the title suggests, this is a homage to Mamoru Oshii's film, Ghost in the Shell, based on Masamune Shirow's manga of the same name. What they've done is they've recreated the film's opening sequence using a series of still images they've created with a mix of live action and computer generate imagery. Be warned: there is nudity.

Check out Hollywood graphic designer Ash Thorp's website to see the awesome still images they've created plus a list of the people involved. Seriously, go there and check it out cos they're amazing. Well done to Ash Thorp and his team.

Underground Hero Love To Hate Me

Here's a short documentary by director/cinematographer Luke Huxham on a Yakuza member talking about his love of Lamborghinis. If nothing else, check out the fancy Pimp My Ride style Lambos. More info and a "making of" video at The Verge.

X-Men: Days of Future Past interview on The Feed

Mark Fennel interviews Hugh Jackman and Peter Dinklage on The Feed. Funny guys and lots of good stuff in there, such as Patrick Stewart being HUGE in Woolloomooloo. Who knew? Also a detailed description of how Wolverine was able to look all big and veiny. He should change his name to HUGE Jackman.

Zombie Ass: Toilet of the Dead trailer

Thanks a bunch to Mr Rob Vernson for bringing this to my attention.

Gojira party!

This one is courtesy of Youtube master LA Rabbit.

Bill Murray 4 life

No embeds because I have no idea what kinda Voodoo magic they’re using on the site but check out this article on Deadspin (with video) of Bill Murray crashing a bachelor party and giving some good advice. I hope they invent the Infinity Formula soon and give it to Mr Murray because I want him to be around forever.

Boob Toob Supplemental: 45mins until my long weekend starts

Easter is upon us which means most people here in Australia get a 4 day weekend. If you plan it in advance (as some peeps in my department did) you can have almost 2 weeks off just by taking a few days off work. There's only 3 work days next week because we have Monday off and then Friday (April 25) is Anzac Day. So some people here took 3 days off next week and I won't be seeing them for almost 2 weeks. I'm already taking 2 weeks off at the start of May so I'll be staying put next week. It's all good, at least I get 2 long weekends in a row.

But you didn't come here to hear about my life story, right? You came here for some videos. Let's do this!

Origin of memes

If you ever wanted to know where your favourite memes came from, how's about you leave Britney alone (that's a meme, right?) and check out the video below. I can never ever ever get enough of Star Trek memes.

Japanese intro to the X-Men 90s cartoon

Pretty freaking epic. Thanks to either Billy Z (from Comic Book Bears) or Gerry McDade (the G in GXPod) for alerting me to this. I don’t know which one of them posted it because it was done on Facebook and I don’t know how any of it works. (Get off my back!) But apparently Jon Westhoff (the guy that says “and we’re baaaack” on E2P) originally posted it.

More info on the opening can be found here. I wish they did a whole series in this animation style.

CRY FOR THE MOOOOOOOOON!

Gotta catch... all the Avengers??

More Japanese Marvel goodness! This is the opening to Disk Wars Avengers. It sounds a lot like a mash up Earth's Mightiest Heroes with Pokemon. Thanks to Kross on the 11 O'Clock Comics forum for pointing this out. POKEVENGERS!

360° video made from 6 GoPro cameras

By Vimeo user j0n4s. This is pretty neat, I'd love to try something similar. I've embedded the video below but you'll want to check it out on Vimeo to see the original and better quality version. Mone info on how it was done can be found here (you may want to translate it in English).

4D? I barely have a handle on 3D!

Pretty trippy looking game called Miegakure. I may have to check this out. More info at Kotaku. FYI the 4th dimension is not time.

Shatner kills Shakespeare

Say whaaaat?!? Why would anyone wanna kill Billy Shakespeare? Watch the video below to find out. They used Legos to make it too and you know how popular Legos are these days.

Speaking of Legos...

Check out these adults who get to play with Legos. That's exactly what I'm gonna do once I retire. Play Legos all day.

Best. Thing. Ever.

Boob Toob Supplemental: The CHOMP Edition!

What's Chomp (I love that guy) doing in the Winter Olympics? What's Mega Man's creator up to? Why is water going uphill? The answers to those and life's other mysteries await you in this latest installment of BOOB TOOB SUPPLEMENTAL!

Mario Kart Winter Olympics

A bit late but here you go. Thanks to Bossman Bobgar for sending this to me. CHOMP!

Mighty No. 9

Here's a video from the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2014 that showcases the 9 robots featured in the game. I haven't been following this game much but I do like the visuals a lot. It seems to play like Mega Man which is neat but I hope there's more to it than just Mega Man style gameplay. Based on what I've seen, it seems a bit like Ben 10 but with robots. I hope it's a hit. Check out the Wikipedia entry for some info on the development history and the Kickstarter campaign that they did.

Water going uphill

WHAT MANNER OF SORCERY IS THIS?!?!?! Thanks to this article at io9 for pointing it out. Science is great.

Tom & Jerry as anime girls

Another video sent to me by the boss. Pretty cool remake of sorts. Check out this article at Cartoon Brew for more info on how it was done.

The Dam Keeper trailer

That Bobgar sure likes his animation. Check out this trailer for the Dam Keeper, a super pretty short film by Pixar artists Dice Tsutsumi and Robert Kondo. More info can be found at Cartoon Brew or just go to the official website which looks very fancy.

Suit up!

Nice compilation of heroes getting ready to kick butt. I saw Dredd Urban in there so Bobgar should like that. Get to da choppa!

Human Evolution

Here's a Deus Ex short film written and directed by Moe Charif. I haven't played the Deus Ex games so maybe it doesn't seem as awesome to me as it would to those who are familiar with those games but it looks good nonetheless. It seems to have higher production values than that Portal short film from a few years back.

Portal: No Escape

Aaaand here’s that Portal short film I was just talking about in case you haven't seen it. It's short and very simple but I like it more nonetheless. It was made back in 2011 and was directed by Dan Trachtenberg, the guy who will be directing the Y: The Last Man movie. Portal is a sweet game.

Boob Toob Supplemental: TGIF Edition!

Okay it's Friday afternoon and I have less than an hour before I leave and hopefully avoid being Lumbergh'd. Let's see if I can dish out a quick Boob Toob Supplemental!

Catellana by Orange Caramel

No idea what they're singing about but sushi + cute girls = WINNER! You can't dispute that mathematical equation. You just can't.

Lipstick by Orange Caramel

I think I like this video better though. Mainly because I understand the story. That tennis dude is a jerk.

Simpsons couch gag by Sylvain Chomet

Way to class up the joint! Sylvain Chomet is a French comic writer, animator and director (thanks Wikipedia). He directed the animated film The Illusionist (not to be confused with the Edward Norton film of the same name) which I loved quite a bit. I thought he did a good job here,

Shaq Fu wants your money

Teaser for Shaq's new game.

And here's where he asks you for your money.

Planets³ trailer

Very cool trailer for a game on Kickstarter. I'm not a big Kickstarter dude but I hope these guys do really well. I'd love to play this game at some point. Very pretty!

If you're interested, there are more videos on their Youtube page. And here's the link to their Kickstarter campaign.

Ollie does the salmon ladder

Just to show everyone that it's real. Frequent Boob Toob guest host Andrew Shaw and I really wanna see Stephen Amell do the Ninja Warrior course. I bet he'd do well. Although he'd probably be too busy making money by looking awesome and arrowing bad guys in Arrow.

I actually saw that video about a month ago but forgot about it until I saw Emily Brett Rickards (she plays Felicity Smoak in the show) tweet this pic of Caity Lotz (Sara Lance in the show).

I feel like I'm about to get asked about my TPS reports so I'm outta here! Keep Blooging and Toobing!

Boob Toob Supplemental: I wanna be this badass German dude

Before we get started, and because it's been a while since I introduced this segment, Boob Toob Supplemental is where I get to post all kinds of videos that I come across. These are videos that probably won't make it into the show so I'm posting them here. With that out of the way, let's get on with the show!

Mary Roach: 10 things you didn't know about orgasm

I love this video. Not just because it's about sex but it's all sciency and stuff. I'll most likely mention it on the next Boob Toob episode. Video is below or you can view it at the TED website and give them some hits.

Turkish Hadoken!

Here's good ol' Ryu selling car insurance. Good for him. Also, anyone else miss the days when video games had mini games like these in between rounds? I miss that.

Best. Supermarket ad. Ever.

Here's an ad for the German supermarket chain Edeka. I don't know what anyone is saying (supergeil means something like "super wicked" apparently) and yet I still wish I was as cool as that old dude, played by Friedrich Liechtenstein. Or maybe he wasn't playing as anyone, maybe that's just him being him. No idea. I love that guy! Thanks, Germany!

Yumeno Hajima Ring Ring by Kyary Pamyu Pamyu

Woo! New music video from my girl Kyary! I like how she goes through all the different costumes and personas she's had.

Some other kickass Japanese lady doing some other kickass thang

I saw this Japanese ad on one of those compilation videos that I blogged about earlier but here it is on its own.

Making of video just to show that it’s real. I didn't believe it at first.

EDIT: Aw man, they've removed the videos.

You spin me right round baby right round...

I WANT TO ADOPT THIS GUY!

Real life Remy LeBeau

Some fancy stuff in this video. I'd still put money on Ricky Jay though if these guys ever fought. That dude needs to star in a Gambit movie.

Need for Speed movie trailer

First of all, I didn't know that there was even a Need for Speed movie based on the popular video game racing franchise. I may have heard about some talks of a movie but I had no idea it was coming out this month. It might even be out now, I don't even know. Cos I never leave the house. Ever.

Second, I certainly had no idea that Jesse Pinkman was starring in it. The ending to Breaking Bad makes sense now.

Driving really fast solves all problems.

Attack on Subaru

More cars. And giant zombie monsters. There's quite a bit of Attack on Titan promotion going on in Japan at the moment. Not sure why since the anime is on hiatus and the live action movie isn't until next year. Hopefully this means a season 2 of the anime is in the cards.

Mischievous Kiss: Love in Tokyo

By Rebecca

This probably isn't the sort of show for our hosts but hey, someone else out there might be interested.

You might guess from the title that this show is a romance. It's also a comedy. Set in a Japanese High School, starring high school kids (goodbye, Dan. Tune out now). This is the first live action show I've watched on Crunchyroll and so far I'm enjoying it.

(Editor's note: Streaming episodes can be found on Crunchyroll's website.)

The premise of the show is that Kotoko Aihara, a girl in Class F (the lowest scoring class) has been in love with Naoki Irie, Class A super brain, super popular dude, for the past two years. She finally decides to confess her love, but unfortunately for her, Irie doesn't accept her letter and just kind of steps it into the dirt. Apparently Irie is also something of an aloof wanker.

"Please read my letter!" "Oh hells no, girl."
And this is where it gets a bit strange. Aihara and her dad are about to move into their new house but...it gets struck by a meteorite and falls down (what? That would totally happen!). Oh noes! Where will they live now? Turns out Dad is BFFs from way back with Irie's dad and, you guessed it, they end up living together. Awkward.

I'm only about four episodes into the show but I really like the Aihara character. She's funny, well-loved, and surrounded by friends (though you can see why she's a Class F student). I hope her friends continue to make appearances as, inevitably, Irie becomes less douchebaggy and realises that Aihara is awesome. But then again, this is a Japanese YA romance. We might have to wait til the last episode for them to look at each other with doe eyes or start holding hands.

I can't really understand why Aihara likes Irie so much, but maybe if I was 16, I'd think he was totes awesome, too.

"Hellloooo, ladiez. Look at me all aloof and brooding in my vest. I bet you could change me."
Check it out if you usually watch anime like this (it'll have no surprises for you, but it's fun), or if you think it just sounds like a cute show.

"You're gonna watch, right?
