Boob Toob Supplemental: I wanna be this badass German dude

Before we get started, and because it's been a while since I introduced this segment, Boob Toob Supplemental is where I get to post all kinds of videos that I come across. These are videos that probably won't make it into the show so I'm posting them here. With that out of the way, let's get on with the show!

Mary Roach: 10 things you didn't know about orgasm

I love this video. Not just because it's about sex but it's all sciency and stuff. I'll most likely mention it on the next Boob Toob episode. Video is below or you can view it at the TED website and give them some hits.

Turkish Hadoken!

Here's good ol' Ryu selling car insurance. Good for him. Also, anyone else miss the days when video games had mini games like these in between rounds? I miss that.

Best. Supermarket ad. Ever.

Here's an ad for the German supermarket chain Edeka. I don't know what anyone is saying (supergeil means something like "super wicked" apparently) and yet I still wish I was as cool as that old dude, played by Friedrich Liechtenstein. Or maybe he wasn't playing as anyone, maybe that's just him being him. No idea. I love that guy! Thanks, Germany!

Yumeno Hajima Ring Ring by Kyary Pamyu Pamyu

Woo! New music video from my girl Kyary! I like how she goes through all the different costumes and personas she's had.

Some other kickass Japanese lady doing some other kickass thang

I saw this Japanese ad on one of those compilation videos that I blogged about earlier but here it is on its own.

Making of video just to show that it’s real. I didn't believe it at first.

EDIT: Aw man, they've removed the videos.

You spin me right round baby right round...

I WANT TO ADOPT THIS GUY!

Real life Remy LeBeau

Some fancy stuff in this video. I'd still put money on Ricky Jay though if these guys ever fought. That dude needs to star in a Gambit movie.

Need for Speed movie trailer

First of all, I didn't know that there was even a Need for Speed movie based on the popular video game racing franchise. I may have heard about some talks of a movie but I had no idea it was coming out this month. It might even be out now, I don't even know. Cos I never leave the house. Ever.

Second, I certainly had no idea that Jesse Pinkman was starring in it. The ending to Breaking Bad makes sense now.

Driving really fast solves all problems.

Attack on Subaru

More cars. And giant zombie monsters. There's quite a bit of Attack on Titan promotion going on in Japan at the moment. Not sure why since the anime is on hiatus and the live action movie isn't until next year. Hopefully this means a season 2 of the anime is in the cards.

Mischievous Kiss: Love in Tokyo

By Rebecca

This probably isn't the sort of show for our hosts but hey, someone else out there might be interested.

You might guess from the title that this show is a romance. It's also a comedy. Set in a Japanese High School, starring high school kids (goodbye, Dan. Tune out now). This is the first live action show I've watched on Crunchyroll and so far I'm enjoying it.

(Editor's note: Streaming episodes can be found on Crunchyroll's website.)

The premise of the show is that Kotoko Aihara, a girl in Class F (the lowest scoring class) has been in love with Naoki Irie, Class A super brain, super popular dude, for the past two years. She finally decides to confess her love, but unfortunately for her, Irie doesn't accept her letter and just kind of steps it into the dirt. Apparently Irie is also something of an aloof wanker.

"Please read my letter!" "Oh hells no, girl."
And this is where it gets a bit strange. Aihara and her dad are about to move into their new house but...it gets struck by a meteorite and falls down (what? That would totally happen!). Oh noes! Where will they live now? Turns out Dad is BFFs from way back with Irie's dad and, you guessed it, they end up living together. Awkward.

I'm only about four episodes into the show but I really like the Aihara character. She's funny, well-loved, and surrounded by friends (though you can see why she's a Class F student). I hope her friends continue to make appearances as, inevitably, Irie becomes less douchebaggy and realises that Aihara is awesome. But then again, this is a Japanese YA romance. We might have to wait til the last episode for them to look at each other with doe eyes or start holding hands.

I can't really understand why Aihara likes Irie so much, but maybe if I was 16, I'd think he was totes awesome, too.

"Hellloooo, ladiez. Look at me all aloof and brooding in my vest. I bet you could change me."
Check it out if you usually watch anime like this (it'll have no surprises for you, but it's fun), or if you think it just sounds like a cute show.

"You're gonna watch, right?

Boob Toob Supplemental: I think I'm turning Japanese

Lots of stuff that probably won't make it to the next Boob Toob recording although I might try to squeeze some of them in anyway. First up...

JAPANESE ADS!

I can watch a ton of these things non stop. So much more awesome than the ads we have here.

There’s a guy that puts together the week’s ads into a single video. Check out this link for his Youtube channel and see the video below for one of the compilations. That dude deserves a medal.

Btw I didn't even know Bruce Willis and Tommy Lee Jones have a series of ads in Japan. Neat-o!

Earn money while eating food in front of a camera

My dream job!

In case you were curious about the Aussie beach lifestyle

Make sure you don’t skip this one. Watch it!
(Thanks to our buddy Rowland Pearce for tweeting this video.)

The Almighty Johnsons promo

Sent in by fellow Boob Toob blogger person Rebecca. Norse gods reincarnated in New Zealand. Looks cool.

Pacific Rim Main Theme in 8bit

I love 8bit themes to death.

Marvel's Avengers Confidential: Black Widow & Punisher trailer

Marvel Team-Up in anime!

Some thoughts on the Marvel anime I’ve seen:

I haven’t been a fan of the Marvel anime. I’ve seen the Iron Man, X-Men and Wolverine anime series. 12 episodes each and it felt like they dragged on. Might’ve been better if it was half the length. They also had a Blade 12 episode series but I only saw one or two episodes (they were okay). They all looked good but the animation as a whole feels like last gen anime compared to the best anime being produced now. It’s like Madhouse gave the job to their rookie animators.

I also saw Iron Man: Rise of the Technovore which is a full length animated movie. It had some cool moments but the pacing wasn’t to my liking. I feel like some anime (or possibly the creators of that anime) get too caught up in themselves and the story that they want to tell that they forget to entertain the audience and keep them engaged.

All that said, I’m always gonna check out whatever Marvel decides to do in the anime department.

Best of Catbug

Just found out recently that Cartoon Hangover's Bravest Warriors season 2 began some time during the second half of 2013 so I'm catching up. You can see the Bravest Warriors episodes here. Gotta love Catbug!

Bee & PuppyCat

Another Cartoon Hangover cartoon. Pretty funny and weird.

Crazy Nic Cage

This is me whenever I finish recording with Bob.

If You Are The One

Just because I can't say it enough, check out episodes of this awesome Chinese dating show on the SBS On Demand site. Episodes are on there for 2 weeks after they air. So damn good. There will be riots if SBS ever stops airing it.

A Bunch of Trailers and some Studio Ghibli

New year, new stuff to watch. Starting with one of my most anticipated movies of 2014...

Godzilla trailer

Not a lot to say except SCREEEEEEECH! Also, Bryan Cranston! And Ken "Ra's Al Ghul" Watanabe. And Rosen from Alphas. And Kick-Ass.

The Raid 2: Berandal official trailer

Okay so the trailer I posted on the last Boob Toob Supplemental was actually the red band trailer and this is the official trailer. So much action in the trailer alone. Can't wait to see this!

Jupiter Ascending trailer

Forgot to post this back in December when it was released. Cool trailer for the next film by Andy & Lana Wachowski. I loved their work on Cloud Atlas especially the future sci-fi scenes* so I'm looking forward to seeing how they tackle a full blown sci-fi movie.

By the way, I loved the heck out of Speed Racer. Still do. Just wanted to say that.

* This might be partially because of Korean model/actress Doona Bae who played the robot in those future scenes. She also played the sex doll who gains sentience in the movie Air Doll. As silly as that may sound, it's a proper movie and a good one at that. Go watch it!

The Grandmaster trailer

This movie has been on my 'to watch' list for some time. Don't let the "in theatres January 31" bit fool you, that's January 31, 2013! It looks amazing and I've heard good things about it. So this might make it into a future Boob Toob.

2013 in Gaming - The Year in Under 2 Minutes

Need to get caught up on last year’s games? Here ya go. Heck, I need to get caught up on at least 5 years worth of games.

Simpsons Ghibli!

I haven't seen the actual episode that this appears in but awwwwww yeah!

I recently saw two Studio Ghibli films: Tales from Earthsea and Arietty (or The Borrower Arietty or The Secret World of Arietty). Won't say too much since I may mention them on a future Boob Toob but both are good animated flicks.

Boob Toob Supplemental: The Gotta Catch Em All Edition

3 Pokemon that could kill you

There’s probably more than 3 but maybe these are the 3 deadliest. Gotta catch em all? Might have to think twice regarding these 3. Magcargo has to be deadlier than Blastoise and Victreebel though. They’d have to actually attack you for you to get hurt whereas you’d melt even if you get anywhere near Magcargo.

Adventure Poketime!

Sweet mashup by mlvnsnmgl on deviantART.

Treehouse of Horror XXIV intro by Guillermo del Toro

A bit late but if you haven't seen it already, check out this cool as heck intro to the Simpsons' Treehouse of Horror XXIV Halloween episode by Guillermo del Toro.

What's even awesomer is someone listed all the references and made a video. Woo hoo!

Nice one.

Best Wrestling Move Ever

It really is.

(Ugh, I can't embed. Watch it here. No, really, make sure you watch that thang!)

The Raid 2: Berandal trailer

Remember when I talked about The Raid on an episode of the Boob Toob? Here’s the redband trailer for the sequel and it looks even more bananas. Good to see them moving away from the building, looks like there’s a few different locations. I (and possibly Wendi) can’t wait!

The Bent Bullet: JFK and the Mutant Conspiracy

I guess that settles that mystery. I’m loving these viral videos. I really hope Bryan Singer kills with Days of Future Past.

Boob Toob Supplemental: It's Raining Men Edition

Cumberbatch Auditioning for Star Wars?

Let’s hope JJ is watching…

I got the moves like Tom Hiddleston

Bust a move, Loki!

He should have a dance off with Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell).

Winter Soldier trailer

Looks bad ass even though I’ve only seen half because trailers these days are way too spoilery. Robert Redford! Chris Evans is alright too.

Trask Industries making ads now?

Nice little ad for the upcoming X-Men Days of Future Past movie. Well it's not necessarily an ad for the movie itself but an ad that can exist in the movie universe. And they also have a neat site with some cool images and info on Bolivar Trask. Woo Dinklage!

Science bloog time!

By Dan Pua

Hey hey, long time no see! Not the usual stuff I cover, I'm sure I'll be back to posting about anime and silly videos in no time, but here goes…

ABC's Catalyst is a 30 minute science journalism show here in Australia. It usually airs on ABC1 every Thursday at 8pm. Me am no smart and all that but I do love science based shows and documentaries.

Last night, Catalyst aired an interesting episode on saturated fat and cholesterol and how they've been vilified for decades. Everyone just automatically believes that they’re the main cause of heart disease without questioning why.

A bit of a spoiler warning… it turns out that the 'science' that was used to justify the vilification wasn't all that sound. But the anti-fat campaign went ahead anyway due to some political forces. Fast forward to today where everyone is on a quest to lower their fat intake as much as possible.

I won’t say too much more because I think it’s worth a watch whoever you are. (Except maybe if you’re Steve Rogers.) I don’t necessarily think people should all of a sudden change everything about their diet but it was very informative and after watching it, I feel like I've been Keyser Soze'd all this time.

Last night’s episode was only part 1. Part 2 airs next Thursday. You can view it here along with a transcript. You can also see extended interviews here.

Speaking of Steve Rogers, how cool was that Winter Soldier trailer?
